A Trying Weekend For the JDS Autosports Race Team is Rewarded With Championship Points

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Peterborough ON – May 30th 2016 – Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) driver Kyle Tasker’s 2016 race season began at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park two weekends ago with the JDS Autosports race team. After a tough beginning in round #1 on Saturday the team was rewarded for their hard work on Sunday.

The kick off to the 10th CTCC race season began Saturday morning with an early qualifying session on a relatively green race track. The car was not quite where the team wanted it to be after qualifying with Tasker commenting “We are lacking front grip off the corner and overall horsepower down the Andretti straightaway.” The JDS Autosports race team went to work with crew chief Chris Haley leading the charge to prep the #17 Hyundai Tiburon for race #1.

Race #1 started at the end of the second warm up lap after the first green flag was waved off due to an untidy start. Tasker didn’t get a strong start which saw him playing catch up right from the beginning of the race. Catching up to the #90 Jordan Redlin, Tasker battled lap after lap until a Touring class car had an off in T5. The race finished under caution halting the #17 in its tracks with a 9th place finish. “I am disappointed with the final results in round #1. I was really hoping for a better result but we made progress with the car and that showed in our lap times so I am happy about that” Tasker stated.

A carbon copy of Saturdays schedule, Sunday began with an early qualification session. This time with a track that already had a lot of rubber down from racing the day before. With a few set up changes done the night before the JDS Autosports race team showed up ready to improve upon their Saturday results. Right before the session an electrical gremlin showed its face creating a running problem. The crew worked hard and got the issue sorted out with 15 minutes left in the session. Tasker pushed for 8 laps trying to better his times from Saturday but it wasn’t to be finishing the session with a 1:38.283.

Canadian Tire Motorsports Park showed its true colours mid afternoon with a small sun shower right before the 2nd round of the 2016 CTCC season. The scramble to prepare the rain tires was called off quickly with the rain stopping and the ground drying almost immediately. With a much better start in race #2, Tasker managed to keep the field in view despite lacking in straight line speed. Attrition was the name of the game in race #2 with Tasker bringing the #17 JDS Autosports Hyundai Tiburon across the finish line in 4th place just shy of a podium finish. “I can’t thank my team, father and sponsors enough for everything they have and continue to do to make this possible. I am thrilled with a 4th place finish for myself and the team. They deserve it!”

Tasker is honoured to represent his sponsors: MBRP Performance Exhaust, Surf & Turf Instant Shelters, Human 2.0, HJC Motorsports, Commercial Press, Autoglym Canada and MAV TV Canada.
